Motivation at Any Age

   Posted by: LiseFuller    in uncategorized

Many of you know that I’m really into motivating people to achieve their dreams. At 54, I’ve done a lot of what I wanted to do but there is so much more. I recently found this site which highlights people who have made a big change in their lives. They are older people, yet I thought, how much of an adventure is that?? Here’s the site. Check it out. I think, like I did, you’ll find it invigorating and motivating. If you want to have a particular adventure, now’s the time. It’s called Second Act and I found it on yahoo. Here’s the link: http://vitality.yahoo.com/video-second-act-lisa-fisco-20332366. This one is on a female weight lifter, which is what originally caught my eye (as some of you know, I love to lift). Oh, and another one that I thought was really incredible was the one on Donald Arthur. Simply scroll through the screens. These are people who empower.

Enjoy, and many blessings!

Memorial Day

   Posted by: LiseFuller    in uncategorized

Hi, all!

I thought I’d add this to our collection here. I’ve been following this guy ( he calls himself Major Pain and is really a US Marine) who writes the blog “One Marine’s View”. He just got back from Iraq and his stuff is pretty awesome. But here’s a snippet from his latest on Memorial Day. And if you want to read more, here’s the link:

Remember Memorial Day and America’s freedom fighter

Posted: 28 May 2010 02:18 AM PDT

This Memorial weekend I got it, you have things to do, people to see. Families will travel, rest will be taken. But for all that is holy, please take if it’s only a few minutes and think of your warriors who will and have in the past walked through fire for you and this great country.

It has been my humble pleasure to serve with some of the greatest citizens that routinely make the ultimate sacrifice to America and its people. For you they go into the usually worse conditions, at the worse time and make the biggest difference. Politics aside throughout the years, your warriors have gone and did the unpopular, the impossible and the unachievable and returned with stellar results and then got ready to do it again.

On the flip side of that coin, there is unseen group of family members that wait, worry, cry, and cheer when they return one way or another. They are the pillars of strength behind your warriors that lend that special hand when times are tough, they too must not be forgotten.

Especially after returning after this deployment, I can tell you with Afghanistan chow still in my gut, your Marines, Sailors, Airmen and Soldiers are doing fantastic things in that country as I have seen great improvements since my first deployment there and the best thing, the people there want us to make  a difference.  Do you get the “stink eye” from some when you patrol through villages? Sure but in counter insurgency operations, sometimes its difficult to see who is friend or foe. However, when a local farmer of the ripe age of early 70s musters all he has to raise his AK47 against an intimidating scumbag that wants to take his crops and  because he knows if things go bad there is a US Marine patrol with in ears shot, at that point he himself makes a difference that has a positive domino effect and there is no mistake who is your “friend “ .

Enjoy and God bless our troops.

Trista is finally free. She’s divorced her loser of a husband, her two children are grown, and she’s now free to discover who she is and live her life as she pleases. She married her husband because she was pregnant, but the real reason her marriage failed is because she could never forget the man of her dreams. Blond hair, turquoise eyes and a body to die for. No man could compare. But as she’s walking in the woods she sees her dream man in the flesh, and as she’s struck with pain and faints, he reaches out. To claim her.

Rurik has come to Earth for the last time to finally claim his mate. But his enemies are there as well and before he can intervene they shoot her. He whisks her back to his spaceship and the marvels of his race restore her. Completely. Back to her body when she was in her thirties, not fifty as she really is. Rurik is determined to have a life with Trista as they should have had all along, and he’ll die to keep her. Too bad she thinks she’s stuck in her dream world and that he is still a figment of her imagination.

When I read that this woman’s body was restored to her pre-child state, I was hooked. What a fantasy, never mind the romance! But this book was so fabulous I couldn’t put it down. With several storylines intertwining, it was riveting. Rurik and Trista’s relationship is complex and full of twists and turns. Add in the politics and intrigue of Rurik’s position on his world, and Trista’s conviction she’s dreaming, and the fun never stops. It’s impossible to go into detail without ruining the story, but this book will be on my keeper shelf, and I anxiously await the stories of other characters in the book that are sure to come. A real winner.

Finding Balance

   Posted by: LiseFuller    in uncategorized

Often when I have a new book out, I’m spending a huge amount of time promoting and not writing. I think like most writers, though, as an innate introvert, after a while, the promo really drains me. Yet it’s important. If we, as writers, want to actually make a living (however small) with this someday, then we need to get out there and connect with readers (as well as other writers). So off to promo we go. And this is where I end up doubting myself more than anything. When I do things, I like to think I put my all in them. It may not appear so, but I do. However, you get to a certain point where you’ve overdone it and need to back away. This is where I’m at right now. I’ve hit all the promo angles I know for Claimed, at least the ones I can afford. Now it’s time for me to back up and regroup.

I believe this is part of the creative process. Even questioning yourself is part of that. So many different ideas go through your head. Can I write this next book as well? Can I develop the characters with enough of the conflict that I want? Heck, can I even concentrate enough to sit down and try? And, ooooh, does the house need cleaning. Not only that, but tax time is upon me! Yikes! What’s a girl to do?

My first choice would be to sit down to a good book and read. And I’ve certainly done this many times. But that’s not always optimal. So, I breathe deep once more, grab my pen or computer for the day, and begin again.

Ah, coffee for the day. Now, I begin.

Thanks for listening.
